10 Things to take with you on Your Campervan Adventure

So, you’re about to head off on an amazing campervan adventure around Aotearoa New Zealand, talk about exciting! Renting a campervan is one of the best ways to explore the country, as you have the freedom to go where you please without having to worry about accommodation!

While there’s a lot to consider when thinking of what you’ll need to bring with you, we’re here to help! In this blog we’ll let you in on the ten essential things you’ll definitely be needing for on your trip.

10 Things to Take With You On Your Campervan Adventure

1. Powerbank & Phone Charger

When freedom camping, you won’t have access to electricity so you want to be sure to pack a powerbank, as well as a phone charger that can be used via the campervan’s cigarette lighter.

Powerbanks are extremely useful on campervan trips, as typically they can fully charge your phone multiple times. This is important since you won’t always want to turn on your campervan’s motor just to charge your phone. Check our range of optional add-ons, we’ve got you covered with our portable power bank.

2. Head Torch

Torches are essential for hassle free vision once it gets darker, whether you’re needing to make the trek to the bathroom or wanting to play cards outside, you’re going to want a torch. In our opinion, head torches are your best bet as you’ll still be able to use your hands for something else when wearing one.

3. Skincare Products

Specifically, sunscreen! Here in New Zealand, we’re all a bit more susceptible to sunburns as the ozone layer above us is thinner compared to other parts of the world, meaning it isn’t as effective at protecting us from harmful UV rays the sun sends our way. So whenever you’re going to be outside for more than 10 minutes at a time, make sure you slather on some sun protection!

If you’re going to be hanging around outside, having a sun umbrella or some form of shade can be super helpful too. In order to fully enjoy your trip, always be protected from the sun so as to be able to kick back and relax without the worry of burning.

4. Togs & Lightweight Travel Towels

Regardless of whether your adventures in the summer time or winter time, you’re definitely going to want some togs with you. From beautiful beaches to cosy hot springs, there’s a variety of water based activities you won’t want to miss out on!

Don’t forget some trusty lightweight travel towels to dry yourself off with after having some water fun! Here’s the good news: Lightweight travel towels are included in every Mojo hire.

5. Reusable Shopping Bags

New Zealand’s taken a stand for the environment, having banned the usage of plastic bags a few years ago.

You’ll still be able to buy paper bags from the supermarket if you make a spontaneous purchase without your reusable bags handy, but this adds up over time. Having a few reusable shopping bags is the best option to help you save some money and put it towards something that’ll really add to your trip.

6. Cosy Travel Blanket

If you’re going in winter, you can never have too many blankets! But even in the warmer months, having an extra blanket around is always a good idea. Mornings can be cold so it’s handy having one to wrap around you as you get ready for the new day.

7. Clothesline & Pegs

You’re going to need to wash your clothes at some point, and in order for them to dry wihtout a dryer handy, you’ll be needing a clothesline and some pegs. Here at Mojo Campers, we provide these along with some of the other essentials on this list!

8. AUX Cord

An AUX cord is essential to fulfilling a roadtrip, it simply wouldn’t be complete without a good playlist to jam out to on the long drives. While there’s a variety of radio stations throughout New Zealand, an AUX cord ensures you’ll have quality music the whole trip through as you won’t always be in range for a good radio station. We’ve got you sorted, all of our campervans are equipped with a bluetooth radio and an AUX cable.

9. Playing Cards

Similar to the AUX cord, having some playing cards handy is perfect for keeping yourselves entertained while off the grid. Park your campervan somewhere scenic, set up a table outside and play a fun game of cards while enjoying the scenery around you. Talk about relaxing!

10. YOUR TRAVEL BUDDY

A solo trip is definitely an adventure of growth, but experiencing the wonder that is New Zealand just isn’t the same without your travel buddy. With countless fun activities to do and amazing views to see, it’s an amazing chance to build some unforgettable memories with your mate!
